Senior Photos on a Farm — Shakira’s Coleman, WI Session
Some sessions just have everything going for them, and Shakira’s senior photos on a farm in Coleman, WI was one of those nights. Warm summer air, gorgeous golden hour light, and a property that gave us endless options – barns, pastures, wooded areas, and of course, the horses. Shakira brought her mom and grandma along, which made the whole evening feel like a celebration, and honestly that energy shows in every single photo.
The Horses — The Real MVPs
Shakira spends her time caring for and riding horses at this farm, so incorporating them into her senior photos was a no-brainer. We worked with two horses for portraits and even ventured out into the pasture to capture more of the herd. If you’ve ever tried to photograph horses you already know — they do what they want, when they want. But that’s honestly part of what makes these sessions so fun and unpredictable. Some of my favorite shots from the night happened in those unplanned moments.

So Many Looks, So Much Variety
Shakira came prepared with more outfits than any senior I’ve worked with — and the variety was absolutely stunning. We went from cowgirl western vibes to dreamy romantic feels, a hunting look, and finished with casual girl next door. Each outfit brought out a completely different side of her personality and gave her gallery an incredible range.
A Note on Outfits for Your Senior Session
I typically recommend 2-3 outfits for a senior session. More outfits mean more variety, which is amazing — but it also means more time spent changing, which can cut into your actual shooting time and affect your final image count. The key to making multiple outfits work is having everything completely ready to go before your session. Outfits laid out, accessories picked, shoes decided. The faster the changes, the more time we spend in front of the camera — and the more images you walk away with.
Shakira nailed this. Her changes were fast, she came ready, and we made the most of every single minute of golden hour.
