Two weeks ago I went down to Northern Louisiana to see my parents, and sisters. We live about 16 hours apart so I get to see them all maybe once a year. It’s something I really look forward too.
Everything was great. While Wisconsin was enjoying 50 degree weather with rain almost every day, I got to sit by the pool and soak up the sun in the consistent high 80’s. It was fantastic! (If my moms reading this, no it does not make me want to move south…) I love living in Wisconsin, but visiting the south makes a great vacation.
Aside from my family, I really look forward to the food! I love seafood, so crab legs were on the menu, along with craw fish and my first time trying red snapper. I cant forget the home-made pulled pork and brisket. And tuna casserole. Yeah, that’s not a southern food, that’s comfort food, made with love just for me by my step dad. He makes it for me every time I see him and no one can replicate it.
While all of that stuff above is great, this trip was just a little more special than other times. My first little sister graduated from high school this year. And I have got to be one of the proudest, big sisters ever. I don’t know how many people I told about my trip before I left, or how many pictures I showed off of my younger sibling, but I was pumped to watch her walk across that stage and get her diploma.
This young lady is beautiful, smart, and talented all wrapped up into one. I still remember the day she was born, and watching her grow up. I thought she was so weird because she absolutely loved playing with baby dolls, which were definitely not my thing. But all that makes sense now as she ventures off to college next year for nursing, where she hopes to work with babies in the future.
She is an absolutely amazing young lady, who is sure to accomplish any dreams she comes up with. I cant wait to see where she goes and, next year, maybe I’ll even visit her on campus.
